How to make extra income being a virtual Mayor of your own town?

Travel industry is a very promising area for web marketers. Therefore, there are multiple successful interactive guides and social communities, capturing this niche. I would like to present a new site on the map, addressing this high-demand topic - http://zoomvillage.com/.

The site provides an interactive platform for creating online tourism guides for any town in the United States (and a few other countries). The developers started from covering the town, they actually reside (Litchfield, CT) to give an example of the site features and capabilities. The central point is the offer to all the fellows bloggers to join the project and to get a portion of the generated revenues.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The profit generation scheme looks as follows:
  • The first person to establish a town or city on ZoomVillage is automatically named the Mayor and given the special privileges enjoyed only by Mayors.
  • The Mayor receives 50% of advertising fees for all ads placed on the town's site.
  • As the chief editor of the town's site, the Mayor is responsible for monitoring additions to the site, such as when a user posts information about a new restaurant.
  • Although any registered resident of the town can make certain changes to the town's attractions, some editing tasks (such as deleting an item) are reserved for the Mayor only.
  • The Mayor can give administrative control to other trusted users. The administrators have some, but not all, of the Mayor's privileges.

Advertising rates are dynamically calculated and are a function of the number of active registered users in each town.

So, as a Major of your City, you start your own project of promoting your local community. And your earnings are directly influenced on how successful your efforts are to promote your virtual project.

At the moment, it is hard to estimate, how successful the site may be, and how much visitors (and advertisers) it may attract in the future. But, being at the very beginning, you can make a difference, and the site success will be based on multiple local communities administrators’ success.

Sounds interesting? Register for the site and claim your city or town, while still available.

Differences between an article and blog post.

One of my blogging jobs was rejected by the job provider in Fiverr.com. The reason for rejection was it contained less than 200 words.

I told him that I am blogger, not an article writer. He should look elsewhere if he wanted a blog post with 400 words or more. It is a fact that most of those who are looking for bloggers to promote their products want articles, not blog posts.

There are some differences between an article and blog posts.

* Blog posts should be written in the first person. That is the basic meaning of web log.

* It should not be more than 250 words.

* It should not be lengthy with repeated sentences just to make it lengthy.

* The blog post should be written based on the blogger's personal experience or on an event or story that interested him.

* A little bit of imagination is required to write blog posts.

* A smiley here and an emoction there inside the blog posts, add personality to the blog content.

Blogs are loved by search engine as well as readers because of these points only. Any comments?

How to control an appetite that is on full rampage?

If you are an obese person and would not mind trying out a bottle of new diet pills, would you give your feedback after 30 days? If so, what are the factors you would consider?

  • Definite decrease in your weight
  • No side effects
  • Sustained results even after a reduction in the dosage of diet pills

No one would stop taking appetizer suppressants completely without first testing the above three factors-right?

I happen to hear the sad story from a student of mine who gained twice the weight she lost a few weeks after she stopped taking a very popular diet pill.

She sheepishly admitted that her appetite is now on full rampage. What would you a weight loss expert advise her for further action?

HGH-who it is for?

I was taken aback when I heard my son talking to his friends yesterday about why Asians working in cold countries should take hgh which when expanded reads, ‘human growth hormone’. I don’t know how youth these days pick up knowledge on matters that don’t really concern them.

HGH is not for physically fit young people. It is a growth hormone meant for under-developed children. I know it is prescribed to adults who show stunted growth but I don’t think hgh will be effective in adults.

HGH works better when given to those who are under 15. Even in America, where HGH originated, it is not favorably looked upon.

I interrupted my son’s conversation and told him that HGH is sold only through prescriptions in Europe and he definitely does not need it.

New and young marketplace for selling ad space.

I received a message on my mobile from Twitter. It stood out among 17 other Tweets because I smelt money.

It is about a marketplace for publishers like me. Bloggers and webmasters are all publishers in a sense they publish content. On their web pages, they rent out space for advertisements.

A marketplace for publishers and advertisers is where both meet to sell and buy ad spaces. Selling ad space in your blog is the easiest way to make some extra cash without any work.

Create an account free at http://puxee.com/ and explore the possibilities of making money from your blogs. Puxee.com was launched just a month ago.

Video review of Blackberry Torck.

Unusually, the past Sunday was very hectic for me. First, I had to prepare a grand lunch for my sister’s family. I had to clean the house. Before all these boring chores, I had to give final changes to the video review of blackberry torck that I co-produce with another video production professional.

I could have made the video review myself but I did not know much about 3G mobile phones. They have just entered the Indian market. Only one of friends recently bought Blackberry Torch sliding phone.

I arranged for a meeting with him, invited the video producer, and saw a demo of the Blackberry Torch Smart phone. I had a few questions about its OS. I knew that unless I have answers to my questions, I would not do justification to the video review.

I managed to complete this daunting task in 20 minutes. Oh, there is someone at the door! I will post my video review later today in this blog.

There are two top 15 lists in Buzzaw. One is called the 'Leaders' and the other is called the 'Movers'.

Check it out: http://www.feedage.com/buzzsaw.php

You can catch quite a few movers if you don't like the leaders.

Insurance companies versus liability claims lawyers.

Don’t yield to the advances made by the insurance companies until you talk to us, says the Austin Personal Injury Attorney from the reputed law firm of O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath, Austin Texas.

I think he is talking sense. When victims of accidents get over their grief and contemplate on legal action against their offenders, somehow the insurance companies of the offenders’ come to know of the victims’ intention and try to convince in favor of off-court financial settlements.

Well, I don’t blame them; after all, their prime duty is to lessen the financial burden of the company.

The personal injury lawyers of O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath counsel the victims that they can get a better deal if the victims let them handle the legal proceedings, as they are highly experienced in their profession as liability claims attorneys.

Become a guest blogger for blogging pro.

I am a regular reader of Susan Gunelius of About.com I have become a big fan of her in depth blogging articles on just about every aspect of blogging.

One of her recent blog posts was on guest blogging at bloggingpro.com. I don't do guest blogging but I have accepted guest blog posts in many of my blogs.

I visited http://www.bloggingpro.com/guest-posting-on-bloggingpro/ and read the guidelines for guest bloggers. Hmmm.. quite a lot of dos and don'ts but all are reasonable really. Blogging Pro is owned by Splashpress Media

One point in the submission guidelines said that great blog posts will be allowed to be submitted in their other network sites. I wish they could have indicated what their other network sites are. This would encourage more bloggers to try out their skill on guest blogging.

I would urge new bloggers who are looking to brand themselves in the blogopshere to visit bloggingpro.com. It is certainly a good place to gain exposure.

While reading submission guidelines and rules, I came to know about "Community of Guest Bloggers" located at http://myblogguest.com/
This is news to me; I intend to explore the site and blog about it here.

How to add Instant Messaging to your Blogger blog?

Plugoo Widget enables your website visitors (blog, social network profile, online shop…) to get in touch with you in real time, directly on your Instant Messenger (MSN Messenger, GoogleTalk, Yahoo! Messenger, AOL AIM, ICQ, Jabber…). If your messenger status is online, visitors can send you an instant message through the Plugoo Buddy in your messenger buddy list. You can thus chat with them, answer their questions or comments Live!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Your visitors need neither to download any software, nor to create an account before they can contact you. They never have access to your instant messaging information (username). And conversation between a visitor and you is strictly private – other simultaneous visitors on the website don’t see the conversation. You don’t have to change your habits, you keep using your favorite messenger on your desktop or from your mobile phone.

How does Plugoo work?

On your blog, personal website or online shop, you embed a Plugoo. Visitors on your website can see the Plugoo and write through it a message for you.

As this Plugoo is directly connected to your Instant Messenger, it forwards you in real time all the messages your website visitors can send to you. You reply to your visitors from your Messenger while they are currently browsing your website.

You can also use myPlugoo, a simple link http://www.myPlugoo.com/... to let your friends IM you from any web site, email or blog. For instance, you can add this link to your email signatures or to your blog/forum comments… This way, your emails recipients or other Net surfer have the opportunity to pop-up your Plugoo Widget with just one click and start a LIVE conversation with you!

Chatting with several visitors at a time

You can handle five simultaneous conversations with five different visitors. When you’re already chatting with one visitor and a second one wants to chat with you, you will receive an invitation in your Messenger conversation window to pop-up the multi-conversations Plugoo Module (if you activated the Plugoo Multichat Mode – to activate this option, sign in at www.Plugoo.com and click “My settings”, then choose the option “Multiple”).

Thus, you will be able to chat with five visitors at a time (visitors from any of your websites). The Plugoo’s name appears above the conversation window on the multi-conversations Plugoo Module so that you can identify the origin of the conversation.

World's first blog magazine.

Blog M is hosted at this URL: http://myblogm.com with unique design and navigation that is rarely seen in blogs irrespective of the blogging platforms.

BlogM is developed and maintained by Mr.Vetri Selvan, a fellow blogger from my dear old Madras. (not Chennai-eh?) He has another blog at Think Diverso, a blog that speaks on myriad topics interestingly.

Blog M is a sort of online blog magazine that is going to feature talented bloggers of the world. The BlogM has pointed out top 3 bloggers in January. I promptly clicked on the first blogger named Purba Ray. She has written a short blog post titled, "Fall of Feminine". In her blog, she has touched upon the familiar stories of assaults on women and female infanticide.

The second featured blogger called Nandan Narula has written about investing in mutual funds. I did not find anything new in his blog post.

Oh, I think I got carried away! It is my intention to make you visit BlogM and read it all by yourself.

Give a little bit of push to BlogM in the blogosphere. I hope it reaches to all the Chennai bloggers.
