An easy SEO strategy for better search engine ranking.

Today, I have learnt an important lesson in blogging. It is not enough to write useful content to attract daily unique visitors to my blogs.

Probably you might also be under the same impression. Our blogs get targeted visitors mainly from search engine results for the keyword, the searcher uses. And for that, we must rewrite the title of our blog.

I did that just now. Please look at the top of the browser and you will see the following:
Money by blogging| Blog Promotion| Blogging tools
This is what I write about mostly in this blog. Now I have informed the search engine clearly what this blog about is. Earlier, it used to be 'Blog Avenues' which you and I can make out something from it but the search engines could not match our intelligence.

You can also do this now.
Click on 'Edit HTML' of your blog and you will see this almost immediately:
“[title][data:blog.pageTitle][title]”

Please note that I have used different brackets above as I am facing problem writing here. Hope you understand.

Now replace the words in between the title tags with proper words that explain your blog's purpose. Preview and save the template if you are satisfied with what you see in the browser.

Where to find blogging jobs.

In bloggeries forum, I stumbled on to a thread that talked about a freelance bloggers community where a blogger can post his profile and expertise. Also there are plenty of blogging jobs posted by individuals and companies.

FreelanceBlogger.net is a blogging community that connects bloggers (newbies and pros) with companies looking for bloggers.

I stopped by and had a look at the forum. Sure, there are plenty of blogging jobs in several niches.
A few samples:
Women's Blog Network Bloggers - Multiple Subjects!
City Bloggers / Editors for Blog Network & Guidebooks.
Freelance Art Blogger.

There are separate threads for bloggers in every niche that includes, women's issues, finance, travel, eco, fashion, food, etc

I read a few useful articles on issues about blogging.

The forum seems to be young and hence at present it lacks activity. May be it will pick up if you visit and spread the word.

Where do you buy Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses?

Some people are incorrigible. They refuse to mend, adjust to changing conditions and fashions.

That’s how I described my husband’s behaviour when he insisted on buying the decades old Wayfarer sunglasses and that he wanted that ridiculous looking mirrored black. I see such glasses worn by college students who be have like thugs. At least that is what movies depict them.

All of a sudden, my strong views about my husband’s attitude and the quality of Wayfarer sunglasses changed when I read in a world magazine that Wayfarer sunglasses are coming back to vogue because some famous sportsmen were shown wearing them.

A trivia:
Ray-Ban, the manufacturers of Wayfarer sunglasses
originally marketed them as sunglasses for pilots

Is it true?

Blog Foreign Language Translation Widgets

Internet is spreading around the world like a strong virus. Many new users are coming from the non-English language countries. Do you want to let them read your blog as well? With developed widgets, it might be not as complicated as you think. Definitely, the translation will be machine type, sometimes funny, sometimes hard to understand, but still it will give your readers ability to understand what you are talking about.

Let’s add free translation services to your blog.

Try Google's translator to translate your blog or website. It has flags to specify the language. When user clicks on the appropriate flag, that page will be automatically converted to the foreign language.

To create a translation box on your page or sidebars, add the following code to template or add sidebars element:

<form action="http://www.google.com/translate"><br /><br /><script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"><br /><br /><!-- document.write ("<input name="u" value="+location.href+" type="hidden">")<br /><br />// --><br /><br /></script><input value="http://www.yourwebsite.com/" name="u" type="hidden"><br /><br /><noscript><input value="http:// www.yourwebsite.com /" name="u" type="hidden"></noscript><br /><br /><input value="en" name="hl" type="hidden"><br /><br /><input value="UTF8" name="ie" type="hidden"><br /><br /><input value="" name="langpair" type="hidden"><br /><br /><input onclick="this.form.langpair.value=this.value" title="العربية / Arabic" value="en

How to get lower Alexa rank?

Alex rank should be as low as possible. The lower the Alexa rank, it means you are ranked as a high traffic one by Alexa.

Another advantage of Alexa ranking is you don't get penalised as Google does to its page rank. Alexa ranking moves up and down almost daily based on the traffic of your blog.

The general desire for all bloggers is to first get the blog ranked under 100,000. This itself is a great achievement and a good positive indicator. Your blog will be favourably looked upon by link buyers, banner advertisers if your blog is under 100,000 Alexa rank.

There are several ways to improve your Alexa ranking, the important being the number of visitors you get daily.
My favorite blogger Etienne Teo has written a blog post on 15 ways to Alexa rank....
Read his post and follow if interested the steps he has given.

AdSense Revenue Sharing on Multi-author Wordpress Blog

If you have WorPress Blog with multiple contributing authors, and you are running Google AdSense program, you might be looking in the opportunity to split the revenues fairly between the participating members. The present plugin is exactly what you need to program the ads revenue sharing. It is absolutely free, and quite easy to settle up.

AdSense Revenue Sharing is a wordpress plugin which allows you to easy display ads in your posts by using a quicktag and share your adsense impressions with your friends and co-authors.

To dispaly the ads you can either insert <!-adsense-> anywhere in your post or use the quicktag button.
For configuration go to Options>Revenue Sharing

Usage:

  1. Download, unzip, copy adsense-revenue-sharing directory to your plugin folder.
  2. Go to your wordpress admin panel, click on Plugins and activate Adsense Revenue Sharing.
  3. Go to Options>Revenue Sharing and configure the plugin.
* Top left is a default publisher id. Delete it or modify it with your own.
* Add other publisher codes from your co-authors if available.
* Edit the adsense ad setting (border, color etc); do not fill the ad channel if you added more than one publisher id.
* Select yes or no for the All pages option.
* Click Update AdSense Settings.

How the pluging works:
There are two ways you can use this plugin.
1. You can use the quicktag and insert an ad wherever you want in your post.
2. Second, you can use the All pages setting.
    By choosing number the second option one add will appear at the end of every single post and page.
    By using either one of the above, on the pages that have more than one post like main page or the archive page, only the first post on the page will display one ad. Google only lets you display 3 ads at a time so it’s better to show one ad, than to show 3 ads and 4 to 7 empty spaces.

    Using two or more authors at once, everyone will get equal ad exposure. So if there are 2 authors, each of then will get 50%. For 4 authors the percentage will be 25% for each and so on. Every time the page loads a different author id will be used to display the ad/ads. Remember due to Google only one publisher id is allowed to be used on a page. So if you want to add other ads in your design read the Google TOS first, you will have to disable the plugin or use only one publisher id with it.

    Remember if you have 2 or more publishers, the one with less hits will be displayed.
    EX.: 5 publishers, someone visits the website and the id from no.1 is shown; for the next 4 visits no.1 will not be shown, meaning that the other 4 will be, randomly; now the hit count is equal again and the pub. no.1 will be shown again; every id will be shown once every 5 hits.

    If you want to add another authors publisher id and you already have one or more, either reset the other publishers hit count, or insert and equal number with the current hit count of the existing ones to the newly added. If you don`t, the next thing will happen:
    Ex.: you have 8 publishers and each of them has 1000 hits; you add another one with 0 hits. If you don`t reset the hit count for the other 8 or insert 1000 as the new publishers hit value, ads with his id will show up until he reaches 1000 hits.
    Features:
    • Nice admin area with live ad preview
    • Add as many co-authors as you desire
    • Simple add/edit/delete/reset co-authors
    • Fast insert your ads in you posts and pages
    • “Show all” feature to insert one ad at the end of every post
    Requires: WordPress: 2.3 to 2.5.1

    Installation:
    1. Unzip the downloaded package and upload the AdSense Revenue Sharing folder into your Wordpress plugins folder
    2. Log into your WordPress admin panel
    3. Go to Plugins and “Activate” the plugin. “Revenue Sharing” will now be displayed in your Options section
    4. Set up as many AdSense Account ID`s under Options -> Revenue Sharing
    5. Edit your Ad options under under Options -> Revenue Sharing
    Settings Screenshot:

    How do you drive traffic to your blog with yahoo answers?

    Yahoo Answers can be a good source for blog traffic-at least that is what I am given to understand but I didn't know how. I just did not have a clue until I read a small piece of advise somewhere in the Internet. I am sorry I didn't note down the source.

    Here is what I saved:
    "It’s if your blog or site related to money making some one ask on yahoo answers “what are the good resources for learn how to make money online ?” then you can submit your site with answer. Some times if your answer is chosen as the best, you’ll get some good extra traffic".

    It looks so simple but are we allowed to include a link back to our blog in our answer?

    Any feedback?

    Disabling Right Click in Blogger Blog

    Have you noticed, that some web sites do not allow their visitors using right mouse click while pointer is on the blog area. This option is useful for the site and blog owners, who want to minimize the possibilities of the content direct copying to other posts.

    Provided cross browser DHTML script from dynamicdrive will help you achieving the same result on your own blog, preventing default right menu from popping up when right mouse is clicked. There are actually two options for this script are provided: Alert Option and Non-alert Option. If the Alert Script is enabled, if someone tries to execute Right click on the blog, then a Message, which can be customized per your desire, appears. If the Non-alert script is activated, then no message is displayed.

    To setup this tool in your blog Copy the Following code and paste it to your blog by adding a new page element.

    Message Alert Script:

    <script language=JavaScript>
    <!--

    //Disable right mouse click Script

    }
    }
    }

    if (document.layers){
    document.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEDOWN);
    document.onmousedown=clickNS4;
    }
    else if (document.all&&!document.getElementById){
    document.onmousedown=clickIE4;
    }

    document.oncontextmenu=new Function("alert(message);return false")

    // -->
    </script>

    Message Non-Alert Script:

    I hate walking!

    I hate walking except inside my house. I was not like that before my marriage. But then, the climate is much different in my home town Coimbatore where walking gave so much relaxation to the mind and body. But, Madras where I live now after marriage is a godforsaken place. If you walk for less than 30 seconds, you will sweat for at least 5 minutes.

    Also, here, the roads are not conducive to walk. I was then told about Asgi shoes that are said to be scientifically designed. I looked at the recommended website footwearetc.com, browsed through various options before deciding on a pair of suede Asgi shoes.

    No, I am yet place the buy order. I have not decided yet because, I have been lazy to walk for several years. Will I get over the laziness ever?

    10 powerful ways for blog traffic.

    I am sure you might have read a blog post with the same title as here at least a dozen times and like most bloggers never bothered to read it again and try to implement one of the ways in your blog.

    Well, never mind. The effort from serious bloggers goes on and similarly the 'no effort' from serious bloggers also goes on.

    I happen to see the title mentioned here in the Blog Rush's widget in this blog, clicked on it, read only up to the third point and started writing this blog post.

    Here is the third point:

    "Sell Things via Your Blog

    Although some blog readers are just there to read the words and that’s all, many others are interested in making purchases along the way. With that said, you want to provide them with the opportunity to buy something while reading your blog, whether it be your own items or ones provided by outside companies through affiliate programs and pay per click programs."

    What do say about this? I think it is worthwhile to implement it. Say, why not join Amazon affiliate program and include a link to any of the blogging world products?

    Well, I did so and below is a product that many will be interested.

    The biggest online shop for baby products.

    You don’t forget certain firsts that happened in your life-right? Your graduation day, wedding day, the first house you bought, the first baby etc.

    Yesterday, we were going through the old photo albums and had great time remembering our son’s early days as a baby. There is a photo in which he was amusing himself lying from his crib. Ah, his crib bedding was very carefully decorated with lovely soft colored bed sheets, some cartoon pictures were hung on the sides and a few toys and pacifiers were strewn on the crib.

    We remember how it hard it was to shop for the perfect crib bedding and accessories. Those days, there were no dedicated shops for such things. But there is a sea of change with the advent of the Internet. A couple of days before I stumbled upon a website called Baby Earth, the biggest online shop for everything you need for your baby.

    Shopping through that site must be fun and easy.

    Reblog this post [with Zemanta]

    Michael Phelps helped me to make money.

    Immediately after his heroics in the Beijing Olympics, we were having a chat in front of the television and the idle talk was on how much Michael Phelps must be earning now.
    I truly don't know how much does Michael Phelps make even after Olympic games are over!

    I read a blog post on how to make money from using the name of Michael Phelps. I was quite interested with the concept. I wrote about it in my another blog, tracked its views and clicks and after about 20 days of posting the article, I realized I earned $7 through AdSense.

    Not bad-eh?

    I intend to implement this concept quite often by catching the latest search trends. Today, I am doing some research on Jet Airways and Kingfisher airlines, the two leading domestic airlines in India facing severe aviation recession. I will write a blog post on the topic tomorrow.

For every search request, the search engine, be it Google or Yahoo or MSN, returns a search report, which is a list of web sites. If your web page shows up in the first few positions of the report, instead of the 24 gazillionth position, people are much more likely to click and visit your page. There is no charge for these visitors, you need not buy AdWords or other advertising, but you must get their attention. Piggyback on Google. Use search engines for the heavy lifting of screening and delivering the right users."

    A very thin Play Station 2.

    My brother’s daughter who is celebrating her eighth birthday next week prepared a list of gifts she wants. The beauty is, against each item, she wrote the name of the person from whom she wants the gift. Very thoughtful-right?

    My husband has been saying all these years that she is the most intelligent kid in the family. When my husband saw that PS2 written against his name, he looked blank. He had to be told by the kid that PS2 means play station 2, the new ultra thin play station from Sony.

    Then within brackets on the gift list, my husband noted that ‘at least 5 new video games’. Of course, what is the use of having a play station without the latest games to boast about?

    Oh these kids!

    If you want to make money...

    If you want to make money from your blog.... Ok, let me cut it short. Why there should be an 'if'? I want to make money from my blogs and so do millions of bloggers.

    I have been underestimating my blog posts for long and I recently was made to realize that I am not a bad blogger and in fact my blog content is really good and useful. Then what is the missing aspect; why my blog is not fetching me money?

    A nail was driven hard on my head. My blog requires search engine optimization and it requires a professional approach. SEO-the term feared by many non-techie bloggers like I.

    So I searched the web to gain firsthand insight about the basics of SEO for beginner bloggers. I happen to read an in depth article in about.com that contained an interview with SEO expert Gab Goldenberg.

    Would like to have a glance?

    Make money with Netklix Ads.

    Ever heard of it-the Netklix ads? It offers a way to monetize your blog/website. Hmmm... I think it may be new to many bloggers.

    I know about it for sometime now but I think it kept escaping my attention to blog about it. Well, not it is 7.30 PM on Sunday, a rather lonely time. As ever, lonely times are most productive for me. Here I am, writing about one more 'blogging for money' opportunity.

    So, how it works?

    Netklix Text Ads pay you whenever an Ad is clicked. looks like a PPC programs.

    • You control how the Ads will look on your web-site or blog by selecting colors.
    • Get up and running in minutes. It's easy to create a Netklix AdSpace.
    As usual, you must decide the ad space for them and I know this is becoming difficult for bloggers. Most of us have already rented the available space.

    Hey, now it is your problem to find premium ad space in your blog. Go and do some jigsaw movements and you may find some space.

    Do you need chat room for your blog?

    Most of bloggers do everything possible to bring new readers for the blog and keep their attention on their materials as much as possible. That involves making an interesting, striking, and professionally arranged content. You encourage your visitors to be more active by allowing commenting, arguing, or supporting your point of view. But, can you go further, enhancing even more reader’s participation? Yes, you can.

    New web application, Firef.ly, allows all site visitors discuss instantly your content between themselves. A simple code, embedded in your site, allows people who are surfing through it to chat amongst themselves in real time. This will allow you to quickly know what people think of your posts and your blog as a whole, creating a simple and effective chatroom. For site owner, managing the chat client is easy and straightforward. Once you embed the code, a nice bar will appear in the lower right hand portion of your site. With it, you’ll be able to see how many people are on the site at any one time and how many of them are actually chatting.

    Definitely, to enjoy the advantages of this interesting and free service, you need to have certain amount of visitors to your blog at place, otherwise, you might be the only one, who will be interesting in content discussion.

    In case you were wondering on the unusual domain, .LY is the top level domain extension for Lybia.

    To see the new service in action, check the video, showing users communication on TWIT TV site as an example:

    How to buy home theater furniture?

    I don’t understand my friend’s attitude of refusing to spend a substantial amount to buy comfortable furniture for home theater. After all, she has spent a fortune to buy the latest home theater system but what is the use of it when you can’t really enjoy the home entertainment without comfortable furniture?

    Also, home theater seating requires a certain distance from the TV screen and the speakers. This is usually overlooked resulting in complaints in the eye and the back after sometime .Depending on the resolution of the TV screen, the home theater seating has to be placed at a certain distance from system.

    In order to experience the ultimate luxuries of home theater system, it is essential to compliment it with proper home theater seating arrangements. We must ensure that the seating layout conforms to user manual provided by shop.

    Domain names suggesting site?

    I suddenly woke up yesterday night with a new domain name in my mind. The idea came after I was contemplating to start one more blog in which I wanted to combine the rest of my blog' topics.

    With the new domain name suggestion from the Divine, I still was not satisfied. I wanted to have more domain names in the same niche I had in my mind.

    I read somewhere about a website that helps people to find and identify various domain names in the niche of their choice.

    It is Domain Scour and what a disappointment it was when I landed on the site. Either I am terribly dumb or I was expecting too much. There was (and is) nothing to help anyone. I think the website is not yet ready.

    I am writing this only to save you time.

    How to become a business blogger?

    A business blogger earns from his blog and the earnings may touch 5 figure but it takes at least a year or two. Still, it is worth a wait-isn't it?

    But what Angela Booth says that you could earn 6 figure income as a business blogger if you read her e-book titled "Blogging for dollars". Well, I am skeptic about the figure. If that is feasible, I would quit everything now itself-my cooking, my higher studies, shares trading-everything for that magic 6 figure.

    Angela is not elaborate on the content of her blogging guide and she offers no refunds. As the goods delivered are non-tangible, Angela cannot offer refunds and requests the readers to ask questions before buying. I consider it as fair.

    Of course, along with your purchase, there are a few bonus thrown in.

    I read the testimonials in her site and they all sound genuine. No affiliate sales program as of now. (I wonder why not?)

    Automatic link swapper and traffic generator

    Everybody needs more traffic to the blog. It increases income and improves site rating in the search engines. Experts claim that a very good blog with proper structure and nice format and content has a chance to get maximum Google PageRank as PR3. To increase it more, you need multiple links from other sites to your blog to be in place. But how can you persuade other bloggers in your niche link to you? That might be a challenging and long range process. There are multiple ways to boost the linking, some of them even legitimate.

    BlogLinker.com is offering a way of increasing your blog exposure. It is absolutely free tool to increase traffic to your blog by making use of automatic reciprocal linking: others linking to your blog if you link to theirs. Note that the bloggers who misuse the service are removed from this platform on a regular basis.

    Here is how it works:
    1. Sign-up to blogLinker, then copy a special line of code into your blog template.
    2. Find others like you on blogLinker and link to them.
    3. They links will now appear on your site and yours will appear on their blogs.

    You have an ability to approve all link requests, and you can hide or delete links you do not like. You can also customize their look and feel to match your site interface.

    Example to review how the Bloglinker block looks like:

    The best of term life insurance!

    At the outset, I did not like the idea of nil residual cash value when the term of the life insurance ends. I wanted life long residual cash reward for my son even after the term of the life insurance expires the predetermined period.

    On hearing this, the insurance agent looked at me as if he is looking at a creature. Immediately I realized that my proposal was ridiculous. The insurance sales man then went to great lengths to explain to me what a term life insurance is and how it differs from other insurance policies such as endowment policy which offers the benefits that I was thinking of for my son.

    Term life insurance policy is only for a stipulated period of time and in fact that is what my son wanted but I volunteered unsolicited advice.

    As my husband used to say even math teachers sometimes show a lack of acumen for figures.

    The best of Christian Blogs.

    Accidentally, I found out about a social blogging community that is dedicated to blogs by Christians.

    I am amused that I found this blog while I was on a task of finding blogs that are exclusively on SriVaishnavam. So, I offer this finding of 'Christians who blog' to God who wanted me to tell about Blogs 4 God to the blogopshere.

    The content and labels are totally new to me and I also noticed the absensce of any kind of advertisements. Obviously, the blog author doesn't want his blog readers get distracted by something that is not God worthy.

    By just glancing a few pages of the blog, I felt the passion behind the purpose of this blog. Please give it a plug-will you?

    How to include social bookmarking submission after every post?

    Every blog owner will benefit from sustaining the readers on the blog content. To reach this goal, it should be offered an easy and convenient way to subscribe to the blog through RSS reader and to allow submitting it to the Social Bookmarking sites. Social Bookmarking is indeed a great way to increase the blog exposure, bringing multiple benefits to the owner. Not just the reader preserves the post for further review and follow-up, but also the bookmark itself starts its own independent way of online existence. It will be indexed by Search Engine spider and will allow one more point of access to the blog content. It is just multiplying your blog exposure legally, with no additional efforts, and with no need to post duplicate your content on multiple sites.

    Bloggerplugins offer a nice way to include small buttons after every post, allowing direct submission to the most popular social bookmarking sites with one click, without leaving the blog post.

    To enable this option on your blog you should go through several simple steps of blog template code update:

    1. Enter Blogger template in Layout section.
    2. Choose Edit HTML.
    3. Before doing any code modification, backup the entire template to the safe, easy identifiable location on your Hard Drive. If anything goes wrong, you can easily come back to your original template without loosing your blog structure.
    4. Expand the widget template.
    5. In the template:
    a. Locate

    <head>

    b. Replace with

    <head><script src=’http://files.bloggerplugins.org/simpletricks.js’></script>

    c. Locate string

    <p class=’post-footer-line post-footer-line-3’>

    d. Place the following code below that line:

    <!-- Social Bookmarking Icons Start www.bloggerplugins.org-->

    <style type=’text/css’>

    .bookmark img { border: 0;

    padding:0px; }

    .bookmark a:hover {

    position: relative;

    top: 1px;

    left: 1px; }

    </style>

    <span class=’bookmark’>
